Open Water Diver: the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course.

One of our highly-trained Instructors will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.

By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world.

 

PREREQUISITES

  • Minimum Age: 12 (for 10-11 year olds, a Private Course is required)

  • Be in good physical health (physician’s signature may be required - see Diver Medical Form)

  • Comfortable in water, able to swim 200 yards, and tread water for 10 mins

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

  • Mask

  • Snorkel

  • SCUBA Fins

  • Booties

You will receive a Student Discount on SCUBA department purchases while enrolled in a course!

COURSE COMPONENTS

  • 5 Knowledge Development segments

  • Quizzes and Final Exam

  • In-store demo on setting up SCUBA equipment

  • Watermanship Assessment (swim & tread water)

  • Confined Water Dives (demonstrate skills in pool)

COMPLETING YOUR CERTIFICATION (PART 2)

Once you’ve done your academic and pool training (Part 1), you’ll need to complete 4 Open Water Dives to finish your certification.

You can sign up for one of Langs’ weekends at Lake Hydra or arrange to do your dives on one of our many trips around the world.

Going away on your own trip? Ask us about a referral. We’ll give you everything you need to do your final dives with a PADI dive center at your destination.
